From boosting infrastructure to strengthening bilateral ties, Cabinet approves developmental projects enhancing India’s stature

New Delhi, December 18: As the winter session of the Parliament slate various bills with discussion amid the uproar, the cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have approved a series of developmental projects escalating the stature of India’s development. From approving the MoUs between India and various countries, the cabinet also gave a nod for construction of new 4-lane bridge in Bihar.

The Union Cabinet on Monday gave an approval for the construction of a new four-lane bridge with a cost of Rs 2,926.42 crore, parallel to the existing MG Setu, will be constructed across the Ganga river on NH-19 at Patna. The construction period for the project is three-and-a-half years and is likely to be completed by January 2023. The project includes 5634 metre long major bridge parallel to the existing old MG Setu, 4 number of Vehicular Underpasses (VUPs), one Rail Over Bridge (RoB), 1580 meter long one viaduct, 110 meter long one flyover, 4 minor bridges, 5 numbers bus shelters and 13 road junctions.

 
The Union Cabinet also gave a green signal to various Memorandum of Understanding accustomed with foreign countries. These include:

· Apprising the MoU signed between India and France in the field of new and renewable energy. The objective of the project is to give a boost to electrical vehicle with the pilot project to provide SECI an e-vehicle charging station with embedded batteries, powered by solar panels and optimized connection to the grid in order to support the Indian governments ambitious plan of electrical vehicles.

· Strengthening ties with Afghanistan, the Union Cabinet approved the MoU signed between India and Afghanistan on cooperation in the field of Human Resource Development. The MoU facilitates students and faculty of Educational Institutions in Afghanistan to register and use the SWAYAM Courses.

The Union Cabinet has approved establishment of two new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Madurai, Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs 1,264 crore and Bibinagar, Telangana at a cost of Rs 1,028 crore. The AIIMS will be set up under Pradhan MantriSwasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).

The cabinet also approved expansion of beneficiaries list under Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana. Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, the union cabinet has cleared expanding Ujjwala Yojana to provide free LPG connection to cover all poor families.
