J&K: 2 officers martyred in Pakistani army's sniper fire along LoC in Kupwara district

Srinagar, December 22: In Jammu and Kashmir, two Junior Commissioned Army Officers were martyred on Friday in Pakistani army's sniper fire along a line of control in Kupwara district.


 

According to Army sources in Srinagar, Pakistani troops in violation of ceasefire opened the sniper fire upon the Army posts in Jimmigund area of the district.

Two Army officers suffered serious injuries in the attack and were immediately evacuated to military hospital Drugmulla where one of them, Junior Commissioned Officer Subedar Gamar Thapa succumbed to injuries.

The other injured, Junior Commissioned Officer Subedar Raman Thapa was later referred to base hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment. However, he also succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

Three militants and a soldier were killed in an encounter between the ultras and security forces in Pulwama district on Saturday.

The security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in Sirnoo village in south Kashmir's Pulwama district after receiving specific intelligence input about the presence of terrorists in the area, a police official said. The identity and group affiliation of the slain ultras was not known yet.

Massive clashes broke out between youths and the security forces in the area following the encounter.
