Accepting Dhaka’s invitation, India sends three representatives to observe Bangladesh elections

New Delhi, December 28: With Bangladesh election polls lined up on December 30, India has sent three observers to its neighboring country for the upcoming polls on the invitation from Election Commission of Bangladesh.

Addressing a weekly press conference, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that India is sending three observers to Bangladesh on the invitation received by the Election Commission of Bangladesh. He further added that Bangladesh has also invited representatives and officials from other countries to witness the elections as observers.

Raveesh Kumar also pointed out that the as far as the election is concerned we feel that this is an internal matter of the country. India respects the functioning of democracy in Bangladesh which is a vibrant democracy, a close neighbour and highly valued partner for India.

Raveesh Kumar added saying, “From our side we are sending three senior officials who have actually been designated by the Chief Election Commission. They will be travelling to Bangladesh from 28th to 31st December as the guests of the counterpart agency in Bangladesh."
