Kochi, Dec 4: Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan on Monday announced that his party is all set for the mega challenge of 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to the media, at Kizhakkambalam, the actor turned politician said that Makkal Needhi Maiam will contest all Log Sabha segments of Tamil Nadu.

As quoted by Deccan Chronicles, the maverick actor will quit films after the completion of Shankar’s Indian 2. He assured that his own production house will always back various public-welfare programmes. “will quit cinema in order to devote more time to political and social engagements,” said Kamal.

Lauding the efforts of ‘Twenty-20’ and the Kizhakkambalam panchayat where he handed over 37 houses to poor families, the Makkal Needhi Maiam expressed that he would follow the programmes being implemented here in his home state Tamil Nadu. He opined that stake-holder must fulfill the promises made to people.

After 25 years, Indian 2 will mark the reunion of veteran filmmaker Shankar and Kamal Haasan. The project will be bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music. Actress Kajal Aggarwal has been confirmed as a leading lady.

Indian 2 will go to the floor from December 14. If reports are anything to go by, impressed with Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 stint, makers are keen to team up with Akshay Kumar. Last seen in espionage thriller Vishwaroopam 2, Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 will hit the screen in 2020.

The 1996 National Film Award-winning social drama narrates the story of a freedom fighter Senathipathi who fight against the corrupt system. Besides Kamal, the film also starred actress Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar.
