New Delhi, December 5: The man who is the alleged middleman in the Rs 3,600-crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal, Christian Michel, was produced before a Delhi court on Wednesday which allowed his five-day custodial interrogation by the CBI. Christian Michel was extradited from UAE to India and was arrested by the CBI in connection with the case on Tuesday night.

Christian Michel was on Wednesday produced before a Delhi court which allowed his five-day custodial interrogation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He will again be produced in the court on December 10.

The middleman Michel was produced before Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar which allowed discussions between him and his advocate for five minutes. Michel's advocate asked the court to send him to judicial custody but the CBI sought his custodial interrogation to confront him with evidence and unearth the money trail in the scam. A bail plea was also moved on behalf of him.

The CBI had sought 14 days' custody to further interrogate him to unearth the money trail, however, the agency was granted five days. The court has asked CBI to provide Michel and his lawyers with all the related documents and the chargesheet against him.

Michel was arrested immediately upon landing at the Delhi airport and was taken to the CBI headquarters late in the night.

Michel is one of the three middlemen being probed in the case, besides Guido Haschke and Carlo Gerosa, by the ED and the CBI. Both the agencies have notified an Interpol red corner notice (RCN) against him after the court issued a non-bailable warrant against him.
