Linking five sacred Takhts for Sikh pilgrims, Indian Railways ‘Panj Takht Express’ to commence from January 14

New Delhi, December 6: With the introduction of the tourist train Ramayan Express for pilgrims, the Indian Railways' catering and tourism arm Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is starting special tourist train 'Panj Takht Express". The special train will start from Delhi and will cover the five sacred Takht associated with Sikh religion. The train will start on January 14 next year and will cover the route in 10 days.

Announced on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the train will take passengers to all five famous Gurudwaras in India that has a special significance in Sikh community - Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Takht Sri Anandpur Sahib, Takht Sri Hazur Sahib and Takht Sri Patna Sahib.

Expressing gratitude towards Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal thanked the minister for taking up this initiative by a letter.

The train will depart from Delhi Safderjung station on January 14, 2019. A total of 800 seats will be available in 3rd AC to the passengers. The tour will be 10 day and 9 night long. The ticket is priced at Rs 15,750. Tickets can be booked online from IRCTC Tourism website and offline as well from IRCTC Tourism facilitation centres.

The tour packake includes train journey in 3 AC class, vegetarian meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), nights stay, wash and change in hotels/Gurudwara, transfers and sightseeing in NAC vehicles, IRCTC tour manager service, tour escorts, security on trains, travel Insurance and all applicable taxes.
