World talks against Iran, But India-Iran are friends: H.E. Dr. Ali Chegeni

New Delhi, DEC 7: Ambassadors of Iran, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt and Brazil presented their credentials to President Ram Nath Kovind at the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.

 

The four envoys were Ali Chegeni (Iran), Muhamad Cengic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Heba Salaheldin Elmarassi (Egypt) and Andre Aranha Correa do lago (Brazil), an official statement said.

 

On this occasion, Ali Chegeni, ambassador of Iran said, “delighted to present my credentials to Hon’ble president of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Iran and India are friends from Modi era, world talks against Iran, but we are friends”.

 

Iran and India are friends established their diplomatic relations in 1950. In the cold war era, non-aligned India is fostered her strong relations with Soviet Union and Iran supported USA. After 1979 revolution, India and Iran became friend momentarily. But in 2002, both countries signed “Defense Cooperation Agreement”.

 

On 22 may 2016, PM Modi officially visited Iran. This visit focused on bilateral connectivity and infrastructure, energy partnership and trade. Iran is largest supplier of crude oil to India and India is one of the largest investor in Iran’s oil and gas industry.

 

So, this statement by ambassador of Iran, Ali Chegeni showcased Iran’s wish for strong India -Iran diplomatic relationship. This relationship is also going to befit India in today’s international crude oil price Race. Due to this relationship, India can strengthen her power in Middle East Asia.
