New Delhi, December 7: Maligning the status of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan has been trying hard to accuse its right on the property. In order to stop Pakistan to use its cheap tricks, India voiced strong objection on Pakistan’s move to change the status of Gilgit Baltistan and asked it to end all illegal occupation of these areas immediately along with the rest of Jammu and Kashmir under its control.

Briefing the media in a press conference, MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, “Any attempt by Pakistan to change the legal status has no basis whatsoever. We call upon Pakistan to vacate all occupied territories.”

The issue was highlighted in the wake of reports pointing that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had called a Cabinet meeting to discuss various proposals, including the one to change the status of Gilgit Baltistan.

Shutting Pakistan on its move to declare Gilgit Baltistan as its fifth province, Raveesh Kumar said that India has stated its position on Gilgit Baltistan has been very clear and consistent. Adding further he said that the entire Jammu and Kashmir has been and will always remain as part of India.

Gilgit Baltistan is a part of Jammu and Kashmir annexed by Pakistan in 1947 but the status of the area though disputed has been kept ambiguous by Pakistan. Off lately, the people there have witnessed regular protests by activists over alleged human rights violations by the Pakistani authorities in the region.
