Modi Government has removed the nation’s ‘fragile five economy tag’ : Arun Jaitley

New Delhi, December 8: Jaitley said that “The ground work for India’s continuous economic growth rate has been set up and it will continue to grow to 7.5 to 8 percent for the next two decades under a mature leadership. India’s economy is growing at the fast pace”, said Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while addressing the Jagran Forum in the national capital yesterday.
 
Jitley attributed the growth to formalisation of the economy adding that Modi Government has removed the nation’s ‘fragile five economy tag’ and moved up from the 10th position in the world to 6 within four years of coming to par.
 
“India has the capacity to grow at least 5 percent more than the average growth rate of the rest of the world and expressed hope that economy can climb up to the 3rd position after United States and China in the next few years.”, the Minister added.
 
“As many as 6.86 crore Income Tax returns have been filed this year and the number is expected to go up to 7.6 crore before the present government completes its five year term. 3.8 crore people filed I-T returns in 2014 when the NDA government came to power. There are 25-26 crore families here. The country is capable of having a 10-11-12 crore tax payer base.", Jaitley said at the 'Jagran Conclave'. "Oil prices are a drag.... India can continue to grow at the same pace for two decades, but we need mature leadership for that," he concluded.
