Maharashtra seeks financial assistance of Rs 7,963 cr for mitigation of drought

Mumbai, December 8: Maharashtra Government has sought financial assistance of 7,963 crore rupees from the Centre for mitigation of drought, Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis has said. Fadnavis today met Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, Nripendra Misra in New Delhi to submit the proposal.


 

As the central delegation is currently in Maharashtra to assess the drought situation, Mr. Fadnavis requested early assistance to tackle drought in over 150 talukas of the state. A statement from Chief Minister’s office informs that Mr. Misra has assured that all possible assistance will be released at the earliest.

 

CM Fadnavis on Friday also sought additional allotment of six lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana.

He also requested for early finalization of draft Coastal Regulation Zone notification and deployment of e-vehicles in tiger safaris to promote eco-tourism in Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve as it could reduce man-animal conflicts and boost tourism.
