JK Governor meets Rajnath Singh; discusses current situation in valley

New Delhi, February 12: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra on Sunday called on Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and briefed him about the current situation in the valley. Notably, the high-level meeting took place amidst Jammu’s Sunjuwan military camp terror attack. 

 

During the half-an-hour meeting, Governor Vohra apprised Rajnath Singh of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in border areas which have been witnessing massive ceasefire violation by Pakistan and infiltration from across the border.

The terrorist attack on the Jammu’s Sunjuwan military camp in which six people were killed and 11 others were injured was also discussed in the meeting. Governor Vohra and HM Rajnath Singh also discussed the ongoing peace initiative undertaken by Centre's representative Dineshwar Sharma and his meeting with a cross-section of people.

Importantly, the Indian Army eliminated four terrorists belonged to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror outfit after a fierce encounter that took place in Jammu’s Sunjuwan military camp. Unfortunately, in the attack, five Army men, including two junior commissioned officers (JCOs), and the father of a soldier was killed.

Importantly, the terrorist had attacked the same army station in 2006. Twelve soldiers were killed and seven others were injured in that attack before the two fidayeen (suicide) terrorists were killed.
