Indian women team wins the opening encounter of T20 series against South Africa

Potchefstroom, February 14: At the same when men in blue thrashed South Africa in a historic series, Women in Blue have won the opening encounter of the five-match Twenty20 series against South Africa by seven wickets. The north star of Indian women’s cricket team, Mithali Raj guided the win with her an unbeaten 54.

Mithali’s 11th T20 International half-century, came from 48 deliveries and she hit six fours, one six. Relying on Mithali’s bat inning India finished at 168 for three in 18.5 overs. Smriti Mandhana made 28 and Jemimah Rodrigues scored 37 contributing to the win.

Earlier, sent in to bat, the South African Women made 164 for 4 in the stipulated twenty overs. Skipper Dane van Niekerk, who opened the innings, top-scored with 38. Chloe Tyron was unbeaten on 32, while Migon du Preez was not out on 31.
