US open for talks with North Korea without preconditions

Washington, February 14: A clear win comes to South Korean President Moon Jae-in the United States has said it is open to holding preliminary talks with North Korea. South Korean local media reported, White House National Security Council official hinted about the talk.

The U.S. is "willing to engage North Korea to emphasize our position that the complete and verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is non-negotiable," the official said as quoted by Yonhap. "The maximum pressure campaign will intensify until the North Korean regime denuclearizes."

It came with the line of the US President Mike Pence’s comment which was made last week; he said the U.S.-led campaign of growing economic and diplomatic sanctions against Pyongyang will continue.

The probability of the talk gained momentum when North Korea announced to send a high-level delegation to winter Olympics. South Korean President Moon Jae-in has also been invited to Pyongyang for an inter Koran talk. It is obvious that the US does not want any rift with one of its key alley led by Moon.

North Korea is "a potentially existential" threat to the U.S. and that "decision time is becoming ever closer in terms of how we respond to this," U.S. Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said.
