Kolkata, February 15: The poor administration of TMC led Kolkata Municipal Corporation comes to surface as after a major Dengue outbreak, Diarrhoea outbreak is tormenting the citizens. Whereas water contamination was feared, which was denied by Mayor Shovan Chattopadhyay, has been proved true as KMC’s own test found coliform bacteria.

The bacteria were found from sample waters of Diarrhoea affected area only. One of the departments of Corporation tested 154 samples among which 3 samples were contaminated with coliform bacteria. Among the three samples one was collected from water storage of a household, another was collected from a packaged water bottle, the third one from a tube well of KMC.

The house from where one of the contaminated samples was found, is distributed water from Dhapa Pumping station. Earlier also it was complained by locals that water distributed from Dhapa Pumping station is contaminated. Due to the outbreak demand for packaged water bottle was uprising. Then, it was doubted many shopkeepers are collecting packaged water from Municipality taps only.

The local media reports say the report of the test was found out on Tuesday itself but somehow KMC denied to bring it in public. A 40-year-old man died on Wednesday afternoon after complaining of diarrhoea since morning at Baghajatin in the affected area.
