Global Pharma Conference flagged off directing overall growth in health sector

Bengaluru, February 15: With the theme, ‘Driving NextGen Pharmaceuticals’, the international exhibition and conference on Pharmaceutical & Medical Device sector ‘India Pharma & India Medical Device 2018’ kick started at Bengaluru. The event is a three day conference, commencing from 15th February to 17th February.

 

This is the third edition of the international Pharmaceutical conference. The event is ought to be a positive step towards the development of Future Drugs that is Biologics and will catalyze the overall growth of the Pharmaceuticals Sector in India.

 

Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers, Ananth Kumar inaugurated the three-day event where Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were present at the event. The event has being organised by the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, along with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).

While addressing the event, Anant Kumar said, “Mr. Barack Obama had started Obama Care and 'Ayushman Bharat' is a similar health care project in India at a much larger scale. It can be called as 'Modi Care'. Ayushman Bharat is a mega health care program. This can be called as 'Namo Care'. Over 50 crores of population to get assured health care.”

 

The event will bring key stakeholders of the pharma and medical devices sectors under one roof, with hundreds of delegates including 50 Hosted Delegates from other Nations. The roundtable conference will aim to discuss the matters related to health and the government policies and the challenges faced by the industry.

A key highlight of India Pharma & India Medical Device 2018 is a workshop by World Health Organisation on ‘Regulatory System Strengthening and Prequalification’. A conference has also been organized by NASSCOM on ‘Digital Transformation through Innovation in Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices and Healthcare Industries’.
 
 

The government is taking great efforts in terms of the health care sector for its masses and introducing new schemes which will help the country live in a safe and sound environment. The Budget 2018 also emphasized particularly on health care sector and major benefits catered towards it. The initiative of National Health Protection Scheme which aims to cover over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries) provides coverage up to 5 lakh rupees per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.
