Dehradun, February 15: One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Kedarnath which remains closed during the winter due to snow will reopen its holy portals from April 29. The decision was taken on the holy festival of Mahashivaratri.

As per the tradition Lord Kedarnath is worshipped at the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath till the original temple reopens. The ceremonies to reopen the portals will start from April 26 says the chief priest of Kedarnath (Rawal) Bhimashankar Ling.

Along with Kedarnath other holy shrines of Badrinath will open from April 30, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham from April 18.

Around seven lakh people visit Chardham yatra every year. Keeping in mind of the safety of the pilgrims, Government takes several measures which provide security and safety during the holy pilgrimage.

And also the government's effort in rebuilding Uttarakhand after the 2013 natural disaster has also gained the confidence of the pilgrims not only nationally but internationally too.
