Bengaluru, February 16: Responding to the allegations of Goa government, Karnataka counsel Mohan V Katarki has urged Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal to grant permission to submit a detailed project report for the use of 7 TMC ft of surplus water available at Kotni dam. Earlier, Goa had claimed that neighboring state accused Karnataka of illegal diversion.

On this occasion, the Karnataka government has requested Mahadayi panel to appoint a supervisory committee under senior bureaucrat and four technical experts from Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa in order to review the technical aspects in DPR. Karnataka government further pleaded that no state government should be allowed to access the water from the proposed projects without due clearance as mentioned in the provisions of the Central Acts.
