New Delhi, February 16: Union Minister of Human Resource Prakash Javadekar took a media conference on falsehood spread by Congress on Nirav Modi Fraud. He called the scam a ‘UPA scam’ which started in 2011, and said that the alertness of the NDA govt had brought the scam to light.

He said: “The scam which has come into the light is a scam of the UPA Govt. This started during UPA's reign in 2011. It is the alertness of the NDA govt which has brought this scam into the light. All the NPAs, the wrongful distribution of loans, amongst others were all passed down to us by the UPA Govt. This is a scam by the bank & not the govt.”

He added: “Finance Secretary during UPA's regime, instead of taking action, forced Dinesh Dubey to resign. We are asking who pressurized the Finance Secretary to pressurise Dinesh Dubey.”

Dinesh Dubey, former Allahabad Bank director, said that he had sent a dissent note against Gitanjali Gems to the government and the RBI in 2013 but to no avail.

Javdekar further said “Rahul Gandhi is out on bail in National Herald scam. If someone had clicked his picture with me in the parliament, should that mean that I'm an accomplice in the offence committed by him? His attack on PM on the basis of a picture clicked in an official function is childish.”

The examples of scams involving a government are 2G, CWG, Jijaji and Coal Scams. These cannot be equated with a banking level fraud taking place in connivance with unscrupulous professional says Minister Prakash Javdekar.

Minister Javdekar added that the difference between a Banking fraud and a scam involving the government can be seen in all the scams that took place during UPA government like Coal scam that happened under the signed documents by then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
