MP hailstorm: CM Shivraj visits hail-hit fields, assures relief at Rs 30,000/hectare

Bhopal, February 17: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan yesterday met the farmers who incurred heavy crop losses due to the heavy hailstorm that occurred recently at Sagar district. Around 984 villages were affected by the hailstorms.

The Chief Minister visited the fields and took stock of the damaged crops. Consoling the farmers he said that in this hour of crisis the state government stands with them. He said that they will face the circumstances together.

A survey was being conducted of all affected villages. Patwari, Agriculture Department team and village panch were included in the survey team. The survey list will be pasted in the panchayat so that complete transparency is maintained.

The Chief Miniser said that the hail-affected farmers will be given Rs 30 thousand per hectare relief amount along with the crop insurance amount. Loan recovery will be postponed and the interest will be paid by the government.

He said that farmers will get loan for fertilisers/seeds on zero percent interest. Chouhan assured farmers that the state government will compensate all farmers for the losses incurred due to hailstorm.
