Kashmiri girl Palak inscribes her name in history; clinches ‘All Round Best Gymnast’ title

Mohali, February 18: Amidst dark shadow of terrorism which s spread in Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiri girl Palak inscribed her name in history after clinching the "All Round Best Gymnast" title of the country on the second day of the ongoing 24th Senior National Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship at Mohali, Punjab.

 

Notably, in a nail-biting competition with a total of all four apparatus including Hoop, Ball, Clubs and Ribbon, Palak scored 46.95 points and clinched the "All Round Best Gymnast" in the ongoing 24th Senior National Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship on Saturday. This is for the first time that a Gymnast has won ‘All Round Best Gymnast' title.

Prabhjot Bajwa of Punjab was declared second best rhythmic gymnast, whereas Mitali got the third position. Prabhjot Bajwa secured 45.55 points and Mitali secured 42.35 points in the tournament. However, the three gymnasts of State have also for individual apparatus final, which is scheduled to be held today. Palak has qualified for all four apparatus, while Mitali qualifies for Hoop and Clubs and another gymnast has qualified for Ball and Ribbon.

On the other side, in the team championship, Indian Railways dominated the field with a total of 368.35 points, followed by Punjab with 324.15 points and GFI West Bengal with 322.75 points in second and third places, respectively.
