Another setback for ex-Haryana CM Hooda: CBI files chargesheet against him and 33 others

Panchkula, February 2: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday filed a chargesheet against former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda who is allegedly connected with a huge land scam in Haryana. The charge sheet was filed against 33 others along with the ex- Haryana CM in the Panchkula CBI court.

At first the case was registered in September 2015. It is being alleged that private builders was involved in a conspiracy with unknown public servants of the Haryana government to purchase around 400 acres of land from farmers and land owners of village Manesar, Naurangpur and Gurgaon at throwaway prices.

Haryana government under Hooda initially notified that land would be acquired to set up model industrial townships in Gurugram’s Manesar, Naurangpur and Lakhnoul; later they were excluded from the acquisition process later. Private builders used this threat to buy lands from them at 100 crore costs while market value was 1600 crores.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda government of Haryana is suspected of foul play in the another acquisition of 1,400 acres of land in Gurugram . In late November, Supreme Court ordered a CBI probe for the case and was ordered to complete the probe within six months and to submit the report. The then Congress government is alleged to help builders and colonizers at the cost of farmers and landowners.
