To deepen Indo-Nepal ties, Sushma Swaraj calls on President Bhandari and PM Deuba

Kathmandu, February 2: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today called on President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at Sheetal Niwas in Kathmandu. The two-day trip is Swaraj's seventh visit to the Himalayan state after she assumed office.

According to official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India, Raveesh Kumar, Minister Swaraj congratulated President Bhandari on the successful conduction of election in Nepal.

Likewise, both the leaders exchanged views on advancing multi-dimensional relationship between India and Nepal, said Indian MEA spokesperson Kumar.

During the meeting, Minister Swaraj congratulated PM Deuba on the successful conduction of recent elections, stated a tweet from Raveesh Kumar.

EAM Swaraj , earlier today, had met Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, SSFN Chairman Upendra Yadav separately.

Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda said that India assured full support for political stability and development in Nepal. Talking to media persons after meeting External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at Kathmandu Prachanda said that constructive discussion was held in cordial atmosphere.

Both the leaders discussed steps to further deepen unique India-Nepal relations. External Affairs Minister also complimented Prachanda for his party's performance in recent elections.

This is the first high level visit from India after successful completion of historic three tier elections in Nepal. The visit is seen very significant in Nepal and expected to further strengthen age old friendship and relations between India and Nepal.
