EC revokes transfer order of Hassan Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri, questions Karnataka government

Bengaluru, February 2: Striking down the transfer order of Hassan Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri passed by Siddaramaiah led Congress government, Chief Election Commissioner Om Prakash Rawat maintained that state administration should not transfer officers involved in the revision of electoral rolls before the completion of the assignment.

Speaking to the media, Rawat directed the state government to restore all the postings for hassle-free assembly elections scheduled in April 2018. He was on a two-day review visit to Karnataka. According to media reports, anticipating political rucks over the transfer, the Election Commission has directed Karnataka government to revert the transfer of Rohini Sindhuri along with other two officers until the final publication of electoral lists.

Earlier, opposition parties like BJP, JD(S) expressed reservation over the unexpected transfer of Hassan Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri by  Siddaramaiah government. The Hassan Deputy Commissioner was looking after the preparations of grand Mahamastakabhisheka event slated on February 7 was transferred by the state government. On the other hand, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah termed transfer as the seer administrative procedure and slammed opposition for boiling issue out of proportion.
