MoU signed for setting up major trading hub Twin Towers in Guwahati

Guwahati, February 2: In order to evaluate and strengthen the connections of North-East India, a MoU was signed between the Government of Assam and National Building Construction Corporation to construct the Twin Tower Trade Centre in Guwahati to project Assam as a world class business location. The proposed Twin Tower Trade Centre will definitively add to this transformation plan.

 

The Government of India has planned an investment of approx. Rs 45,000 crore for the development of India's North-Eastern regions bordering China, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Myanmar. The Government has enacted a pro-active “Act East Policy” to strengthen the connection and reduce the isolation of the North East region by improving all round connectivity and civic infrastructure.

Design of the proposed World Trade Centre has been finalized and it aims to work with National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCC), the government’s construction arm, has been tasked to construct the whole infrastructure. Guwahati considered as one among 100 smart cities determined to recast the urban landscape of the country.

While speaking during the MoU signing ceremony, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, stated that this trade center will enable the prospects and possibilities to generate a major trading hub thereby increasing economic linkages between South East Nations. NBCC is fully equipped with technology, technical capacity, design and intuition to implement this illustrious project and shall proactively work along the lines of sustainable and quality development and deliver the project on schedule.
