Indian Army thwarts attack by Pakistan`s BAT squad in Poonch district of JK; eliminated one intruder

Srinagar, February 20: Indian Army thwarted a major attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) in Gulpur sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir by killing a heavily-armed terrorist while two other terrorists received life-threatening injuries.

 

Notably, Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) which comprises members of the special forces of the Pakistan Army and some terrorists tried to sneak in from across the LoC in Gulpur area of Khari Karmara sector under cover of heavy firing was thwarted by the alert personnel of Indian Army.

During the gunfight, one intruder was killed while two other terrorists received life-threatening injuries. Army troops recovered 3 live RPG Grenades, 4 disposable Rocket Launchers, 2 IKOM radio set,1 AK Magazine, 2 Molotov cocktails, 4 UBGL grenades, 7 Hand grenades, PIKA belt fired, 1 Mobile Phone, 3 backpacks Medical satchel and Pak National flag.

An Army spokesperson said, “The BAT team tried to sneak in from across the LoC in Gulpur area of Khari Karmara sector but the alert troops foiled their nefarious designs.” “A huge quantity of arms and ammunition along with a Pakistani flag was recovered from the slain terrorist whose body was recovered during the search operation, he added.

In the last week, security forces foiled a major infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir and eliminated two terrorists.

Importantly, twenty people including 11 security personnel and nine civilians were killed and over 75 others injured in Pakistani shelling along the LoC and the International Border (IB) in Jammu division since the beginning of this year. Interestingly, as many as 515 infiltration cases from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir were reported in the year 2017 in which 75 terrorists were killed.
