Andhra Pradesh seeks to promote tourism through ‘My Stamp’ postal stamps

Amravati, February 21: To promote the tourists destinations of state Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department APTDC in an innovative idea, plans to use postal stamps titled as ‘My Stamp’. India has seen 9.7% of an increase in the number of foreign tourist arrivals which accounts to 8.80 million tourists visiting India. 

The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department Corporation (APTDC) has come up with an innovative idea of promoting its important places through postal stamps. The department has decided to use 'My Stamp' facility of the postal department to popularise tourist places in the state. Initially, the department proposed to promote 12 important places using 'My Stamp' facility of the postal department, said Tourism Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena.

N Chandrababu Naidu would release the stamps. The tourism secretary added that the department would get 'My Stamps' for Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirupati, Sri Mallikharjuna temple at Srisailam, Goddess Kanakadurga temple in Vijayawada, tribal exhibition at Araku, Gandikota in Kadapa, RK Beach in Vizag, Chandragiri Port in Chittoor, Pavitra Sangamam at Amaravati, Papi Hills at Rajahmundry, Borra Caves at Araku, Pulicat Lake at Nellore and Meditating Buddha in Amaravati.

Earlier, while talking in Advantage Assam Summit, Tourism Minister K J Alphons also said that the Centre aims to double the number of foreign tourist arrivals (FTA) to 20 million in the next three years. Urging the Indians to visit more places within the country, he said, "Last year more than 23 million Indians went abroad and there is nothing wrong with that. But at the same time, we must also adopt the policy of 'Lets see India' policy ourselves. Indians must see India.""The tourism ministry is committed to creating an image and an environment which will be tourist friendly and which can include the appointment of global ambassadors like Richard Gere for the Buddhist circuit," Alphons said.
