Polavaram project is on right track: Chandra Babu Naidu

West Godavari, February 21: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu once again reiterated that Polavaram project is on the right track and state government will meet the deadline of December 2019. Speaking to the media after reviewing the ongoing construction work of the national irrigation project, Babu said that government has spent Rs 13,000 crore on the project till now, including Rs 7,810 crore, which were spent after the Centre declared Polavaram a national project.

Elaborating about the details, the Chief Minister informed that 71% spillway and spill channel works, 14% concrete works, 89% diaphragm wall works, and 50% radial gates works have been completed. When asked about the alleged sluggish speed of polavaram, the Chief Minister admitted that people are aware of issues faced by AP government. He opined that TDP government would overcome all the hurdles to complete the project as per schedule.

The TDP National President stated that state government is working hard to provide a total of 200 TMC water to Vishakhapatnam, from Krishna Delta to Nagarjuna Sagar Right Main Canal. He further added that plans of interlinking of Godavari and Krishna will add value to the Pattisimanam project.
