CM Parrikar presents Goa Budget 2018; Reserves majorly focusing education, health, energy and tourism

Panaji, February 22: Goa Budget 2018 was rolled out today by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. CM Parrikar was being admitted to Lilavati hospital in Mumbai, post treatment he arrived in Goa Assembly Hall with full enthusiasm to present the Budget 2018. 

CM Parrikar started reading the Goa Budget 2018 mentioning 6.84% increase in the allocation as compared to the last year. Total Budget amounts to Rs. 17,123.28 Crores whereas in last year it was Rs 16,027 Crores. The revenue surplus is estimated at Rs 144.65 Crores.

 

Agriculture

Goa budget promises to ensure healthy agriculture and aims for wealthy farmers by allocating Rs 453.49 Crores. This also covers Animal Husbandry, Forest and Fisheries.

Education

Around Rs 1,983.38 Crores has been reserved for education sector. This sections up Rs 1,470.62 Crores for school education, Rs 345.65 Crores for higher education and Rs 158.11 Crores for tech education.

Health and Welfare

Health sector has been allocated with Rs 1002.16 Crores. Apart from this Rs 1091 Crores has been allocated for social welfare, woman and child welfare and tribal welfare. Also Rs 241.55 Crores have been allocated separately for Panchayat and Rural Development. Further Rs 423.40 Crores are allocated for Municipal Administration.

Transport and Energy

Transport has been allocated with Rs 100 Crores and Rs 2922.36 Crores allocated for Public Work Department, Water Resource and other infrastructure. Also Rs 2203.61 Crores has been allocated for Electricity and Non-Conventional Energy.

Others

Rs 283.06 Crores have been allocated for Sports to boost the sports mechanism. Tourism being the topmost pillar of Goa, Rs 219.53 Crores have been allocated in the Budget 2018. Information and Technology sector has Rs 331.19 Crores reserved in its shelf whereas Rs 217.70 Crores were given for Industry and Labour sector. To maintain the environment, Goa Budget 2018 has allocated Rs 155.65 Crores along with Science and Technology. Rs 51.78 Crores have been allocated for cooperation sector.

 

As CM Parrikar presented the Goa Budget 2018, he expressed gratitude thanking for his speedy recovery and promised to work towards his responsibilities as Chief Minister towards the welfare of people.
