Panaji, February 22: Goa State Legislative Assembly is going on as Minister Sudin Dhavalikar as its head. The Minister tabled a policy which will wipe out the offshore casinos out of river Mandovi and will shift to a proposed entertainment zone near Mopa.

Dhavalikar said that government has identified and marked area for entertainment zone near the proposed new airport (Mopa) and the proposal to shift the offshore casinos to the zone is in the planning stage.

“We are coming up with casino policy to shift the offshore casinos from the River. Also, an entertainment zone is proposed in an area near the new airport,” he said.

“We are still in the planning process and no decision is taken on whether to shift the offshore casino vessels there or not,” Dhavalikar said.

In December last year, CM Parrikar had said about new casino Policy and its amendment to be announced in 2018 which included relocation of these offshore casinos.

The chief minister had said the policy will lay guidelines, but it cannot enforce all aspects. It will relocate the casinos from the Mandovi. The casino policy also has a provision for a gaming commissioner to regulate the industry in the state.
