Haryana SC students who live 2kms away from school will get free bicycles

Chandigarh, February 24: While in remote places of India students face transport problem to reach schools, Haryana government would give free of cost cycles to the students belonging to Scheduled Castes category whose schools are more than two km far from their houses.

 

Students of classes 6th, 9th, and 11th of government schools will get this facility. Haryana School Education Department has decided that such student can purchase cycle of his or her choice and submit its bill in their school. The amount will be credited into the bank account of the student concerned under Direct Benefits Transfer scheme.

The students would be provided 20 or 22-inch cycles according to their requirement. The Department would give Rs 2,525 for 20-inch cycle and Rs 2,775 for 22-inch cycle. He said that responsibility of School Head and School Management Committee has been fixed to provide cycle to each such student.
