Rakhine, February 24: Three bombs hit the capital of Myanmar’s Rakhine state on Saturday Morning. Rakhine is already in an agitated situation due to Rohingya conflict. The bombs exploded in different locations around the capital Sittwe including the home of a high ranking official.

"Three bombs exploded and three other unexploded bombs were found. A police officer was injured but not seriously," a senior officer of Myanmar Police said. Some streets are being blocked by police already because of the bomb blasts though the extent of the damage is still not clear.

Sittwe is 100 kms far away from the place which is the nexus of tensions in the country. Bomb blast in the capital is very rare but since the violence started in Rakhine state in last August following a conflict between Rohingya and Myanmar military.

In January also a violence sparked between the authorities and ethnic Rakhine Buddhists after seven people were killed when police opened fire on a crowd trying to seize a local government office. Lakhs of Rohingya fled to neighbouring Bangladesh after violence broke down.
