Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis welcoming Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao

Mumbai, Feb 26: The government has decided to make Maharashtra a $ 1 trillion economy by 2025 by investing in agriculture, textile, tourism, new enterprises etc. on a massive scale, stated Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Monday.

The budget session of the state assembly got underway with the address of the Governor today. Vidhan Parishad Chairman Ramraje Nimbalkar, Speaker Haraibhau Bagde, Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis, Leader of opposition in the Council Dhananjay Munde, leader of opposition in the Assembly Radhakrishna Vikeh Patil, cabinet members and MLAs were present.

The Governor further said that the government has accepted policies for defence, agriculture and food processing, textile, space science, logistics, finance technology, animation, robotics, artificial intelligence etc. industries to accomplish the target of $ 1 trillion economy. He gave detail information about the steps taken by the government and policies adopted to achieve the target of $ 1 trillion economy. With investment in various sectors the GDP of the state has grown from 5.4% to 9.4%, he said. The minus growth rate of agriculture in the state has become plus 12.5%. The investment of Rs 29000 crore in 2013-14 in agriculture has gone up to Rs 83000 crore in 2017-18. Farm ponds, power to pumpsets, Jalayukt Shivar, and other such schemes are utilised to increase production in farm sector. Farmers are given protection through PM Crop Insurance Scheme and MSP schemes, he added.

The Governor said that through the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Sanman Yojana funds were made available to the banks for direct transfer to 46.35 lakh accounts out of 54.72 lakh total sanctioned accounts. Rs 12,381 crore have been transferred to 31.33 lakh farmers’ accounts. He further said that through Nanaji Deshmukh Krushi Sanjeevani Project investment worth Rs 15000 in Marathwada and Amravati divisions and with the world bank loan investment of Rs 4000 crore is done in Wardha and Jalgaon districts. In his address the Governor has informed about the important steps the state government has taken in farming, farmers and agriculture related sectors. He referred to Jalyukta Shivar, PM Agriculture Irrigation Scheme, Baliraja Jal Sanjeevani Yojana, Electrification of agriculture pumps, Deendayal GramJyoti Yojana, etc. The government has accelerated the work of 26 incomplete irrigation projects under PM Irrigation Scheme. This will cater to watering needs of 5.56 ha of additional land. Through the Baliraja Jal Sanjeevani Yojana 83 small and 29 big and medium irrigation projects will be completed with an investment of RS 14000 crore. This will irrigate 3.42 lakh ha land.

The Governor referred to amendment in APMC rules to facilitate direct participation of farmers in their direct management and said that E-marketing facility was provided to 30 APMCs besides plan to include 145 major APMCs in this scheme through E-NAM. Electrification of three lakh additional pumps was done in Vidarbha and Marathwada under the Deendayal Gramjyoti Yojana the government has taken steps to strengthen infrastructure for power transmission and distribution.
