Uttarakhand cuts ribbon for its first Sanitary napkins unit; will sell at Rs 3 per pad

Dehradun, February 26: The Sparsh sanitary napkin unit started by the Women and Child Development Department in the district, where women will be able to change thinking about the menstrual problem, will keep them away from all the diseases as well. Such a unit will be started in all districts of the state within a month.

Government is also trying to prevent the reducing proportion of girls in the state as compared to boys. With the help of the Vedanta Group, the first Sparsh Block office and the Sanitary Napkin Unit of the state was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat on Sunday. Meanwhile, the CM said that the idea of opening such a unit in the state is a gift of women and child development minister Rekha Arya.

He said that on the release of PadMan, Rekha Arya went to see the movie with some girls. She inspired girls to change their thinking about the problem of women's menstruation. CM said that development in life stops due to the feeling of hesitation. Speaking that women's menstruation problem is not a disease or sin, is a system of nature.

 

Today, the requirement is that we change our thinking towards this problem. Speaking that compared to the market, cheap napkins will increase awareness among women, especially in girls about hygiene. At the same time, they will survive all the diseases from childhood.

In the program, Minister of State for Women Welfare and Child Development, Rekha Arya told that in this unit, the sanitary napkins will be made by women for women through CSR. She said that this unit would create such ten thousand napkins every day. Seven pads in one pack will be given in 21 rupees.
