Srinagar, February 27: Security forces on Monday eliminated one Pakistani terrorist belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba terror outfit after a fierce encounter that took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district. The body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition was recovered hours after the encounter.

Notably, a Pakistani terrorist belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba terror outfit was killed after a fierce encounter that took place in Bon Mollah village of Hajan in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. However, the body of a slain terrorist was recovered today from the adjacent village of Bandipora district.

A police spokesperson said, “A LeT terrorist believed to be from Pakistan, who was injured in a gunfight with security forces in north Kashmir's Bandipora district yesterday, has succumbed to injuries.” There was an exchange of fire between the militants and the security forces in Bon Mollah village of Hajan in Bandipora district yesterday. After the firing stopped, a search was conducted, but no dead body was recovered, a police spokesman added.

He further stated that later it was learnt that one LeT terrorist was injured in the encounter and this morning police came to know about the death of the said militant. “Since the body was already in the village, a request was made to the villagers to hand over the body to police,” he added.

The spokesperson also added that the body was buried amidst a procession led by some miscreants. “The police are ascertaining the identity of the militant who is understood to be not a local, the spokesman said,” adding that the necessary legal action has also been initiated against the people who led the protest and instigated the public.

Security forces on Monday busted two terrorist hideouts in Haribudha and Bhatidhar forests in Mendhar and Surankote belts of Poonch district and recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition along with the explosive material.

In December last year, Jammu and Kashmir police two hideouts and arrested a hardcore associate of the terrorists belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that at least 206 terrorists were eliminated by Indian troops last year in Jammu and Kashmir.
