Amidst tight security voting underway in Nagaland, Meghalaya: Records highest women voters

Shillong, February 27: Voting began in Nagaland and Meghalaya today morning. 20% polling was recorded in Meghalaya and 38% was recorded in Nagaland till 11 am. Voting is being in process amidst tight security arrangements in both states. pasting The results will be declared on 3rd March. 

This time Bhartiya Janata Party BJP has left no stones unturned to claim victory in these two states by wiping out the Leftist corrupt Communal government.

This election both the states recorded the highest number of women voters in its history.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people of Meghalaya and Nagaland to vote in large numbers in the assembly elections taking place.

Also Chief Minister TR Zeliang stood in the queue to cast his vote along with his wife. "We expect that polling will finish smoothly and we will an absolute majority as per voice of the people. We hope peace will prevail in the state and we will move for Naga political solution," Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang.

One person was injured in grenade blast in polling booth Tizit town in Nagaland. Out of the 2156 polling stations in Nagaland, 1062 are critical, 530 vulnerable and 564 normal polling stations, Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer Abhijit Sinha said.

Meghalaya CEO F R Kharkongor said a total 106 companies of central armed police forces (CAPF) have been deployed along with state armed personnel and police especially in troubled Garo Hills region for peaceful polling in the state.

The BJP which has witnessed victory in both Assam and Manipur is trying to make the region free of both Congress and the Left. The results of the polls in the two states will be declared on March 3, along with that of Tripura.
