In an official communication, Rao urged to Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to take a final call on the much-anticipated defence production venture in order to strengthen the manufacturing sector of the state.

Elaborating about the existing projects under the TRS government, the Minister categorically mentioned about the dynamic vibrant ecosystem which paved the ways for emerging sectors like aerospace and defence in the newly formed state.  He urged central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ratify the Defence manufacturing cluster under the banner of Make in India initiative. On the contrary, in the Union Budget defence industrial production corridors were sanctioned for Chennai, Bengaluru, and Bundelkhand.
