New Delhi, February 28: Welcomed His Majesty King Abdullah II to Delhi. It’s wonderful to meet him again, after my brief halt at Amman. His visit to India will further deepen bilateral ties between our nations. I look forward to our talks said Prime Minister Narendra Modi after warmly receiving Jordan King Abdullah II. 

Ahead King Abdullah II will have a summit-level meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. King Abdullah arrived in India today early morning on his 3-day tour. He is expected to host a meeting with Indian technical giants at IIT Delhi on Wednesday.

 

On Thursday, he will deliver a lecture on the essence of Islam at Vigyan Bhawan where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present.

Defence, security and investment, as well as the resolution of the Palestinian issue, will be the main focus of talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and King Abdullah II, it is learnt.

The visit of Jordanian king is considered to be of immense strategic importance for India-Jordan ties. Both sides are expected to ink a number of agreements to expand cooperation in other several key sectors including healthcare, IT besides looking forward to firm up a framework pact for defence and security cooperation.

In their talks, Modi and the king are also likely to explore ways of deepening trade ties. Twenty textile industries from India have invested around USD 300 million in Jordan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently met him in Amman, during a transit stay on his way to Palestine earlier this month.

More than one million refugees live in Jordon and India is also one of the contributors of refugee welfare there.

The Jordanian king, who will be accompanied by a high-level business delegation, will also call on President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday and he will host a banquet for the visiting leader.
