Now CJI Misra will hear All PILs, 'rebel' Chelameswar got separate segment to prove himself

New Delhi, February 5: Hooray! The Supreme Court has got a new roster which will come into effect from today, 5 February 2018. This new roster endows CJI Dipak Misra with the responsibility to hear all Letter Petitions and PIL matters, along with matters relating to service, election, arbitration, habeas corpus, criminal, contempt of court, appointments of constitutional functionaries, statutory appointments and commissions of enquiry.

It seems that the Supreme Court and the Judges are playing a game of 'Egos' and undermining the real and crucial fact of the ghastly ignorance towards the delayed judicial processes and denying the justice to the common man who is the sufferer.

Recently, the four Judges- Justice Chelameswar, Justice Gogoi, Justice Lokur and Justice Joseph- came outside courtroom for demanding Justice before Media against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, asserting that the administration of the Apex Court is “not in order” and that many “things less than desirable” have been happening in the last few months.

Justice J. Chelameswar, who has led the latest faded rebellion within the collegium for a while now, will be hearing matters relating to labour law, indirect tax, land acquisition and requisition, compensation, simple money and mortgage, Court employees, eviction, land laws, admiralty and maritime laws, and consumer protection.

Justice Ranjan Gogoi will also be hearing matters relating to labour law, indirect tax, Court employees, and simple money and mortgage, along with matters pertaining to company law, contempt of court, personal law and mercantile laws.

Justice M.B. Lokur has been similarly placed, with additional responsibility to handle matters relating to ecological imbalance and armed forces. Justice Kurian Joseph will also be hearing matters relating to labour law, rent act, service law, family law, contempt of law, land laws and religious and charitable endowments.

For a common man who is not interested in the ego clash of the SC judges, what matters is speedy justice. As per the data we found is that as of November 2017, the apex court has around 56000 cases pending and the 24 high courts have nearly 40 lakhs cases to give justice. Now the matter to think is 200 % hike in salaries, these many holidays, free trips and number of allowances etc to preserve the integrity of the judiciary is justifiable?
