PM Modi all set for a historic visit to Palestine, UAE and Oman to boost diplomatic ties

New Delhi, February 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set for a historic visit to Palestine, UAE and Oman from 10th to 12th February this year in a bid to strengthen bilateral relationships in various sectors including diplomatic, economic and security issues.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson in a press conference said that Prime Minister Modi will be going to Ramallah on February 10. He will also visit United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman during the visit, from February 10 to 12. “PM Modi will be the first Indian prime minister to ever embark on such a visit in seven decades,” MEA spokesperson added.

The MEA spokesperson giving the detailed information of visit said, "From Palestine, PM Modi will reach UAE late in the evening of February 10 on the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan." “This will be the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Palestine, and Prime Minister Modi's second visit to UAE and the first to Oman respectively,” MEA spokesperson noted.

During the historic visit, the Prime Minister will hold discussions on matters of mutual interest with their leaders, apart from participating in other events. PM Modi will also be addressing the Sixth World Government Summit to be held in Dubai, at which India has been extended the 'Guest of Honour' status. PM Modi will also meet the Indian community in UAE and Oman respectively.

Notably, India and Palestine are expected to sign 5-6 agreements after bilateral talks between PM Modi and Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas. During his brief stay in Ramallah, the Prime Ministere will also inaugurate an IT Park. India has been helping Palestine in capacity-building in different areas. While the highlight of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the UAE will be the laying of the foundation stone of a grand Hindu temple in the Islamic nation.

In Oman, the PM will visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and a Shiva temple during his stay. He will hold extensive talks with the leadership in Oman on bilateral issues as well as regional matters, including the challenge posed by terrorism. PM Modi will also address an Indian community function in Oman.
