New Delhi, February 6: A court in Delhi on Tuesday taking a stringent step forward framed conspiracy and other terror charges against Indian Mujahideen operative Yasin Bhatkal and eight others in a case of allegedly setting up an illegal arms factory.
Apart from Yasin Bhatkal, the Delhi Court has framed charges against Zia-Ur- Rehman, Tehsin Akhtar, Mohd Waqar Azhar, Mohd Maroof, Mohd Saquib Ansari, Imteyaz Alam and Aijaz Shaikh. All the eight accused are members of Indian Mujahideen and close associates of Yasin Bhatkal. However, the court posted the matter for further hearing on March 7.
Importantly, five operatives of Indian Mujahideen including Yasin Bhatkal is already facing a death sentence in the 2013 Dilsukhnagar twin blasts case. Yasin Bhatkal was arrested by the NIA from Nepal border and was kept in Tihar Jail for some time before he was shifted to Charlapalli Central Jail at Hyderabad. Bhatkal is an expert in bomb-making.
