Bengaluru, February 6: Rejecting all the allegation of Goa government on the issue of illegal construction of dams, Karnataka government has urged Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal to dismiss the contempt plea filed by Manohar Parrikar led Goa government.

The Karnataka government maintained that it has never violated the guidelines of the tribunal, and further refuted the charges related to alleged diversion of water as claimed by Goa Water Resources Minister. On this occasion, Karnataka registered a strong protest against the alleged inspection of the project site without prior permission on the directions of Goa Water Resources Minister Vinod Palyekar.

According to media reports, the centrally appointed Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal would resume its hearing on the much anticipated inter-state water sharing row and would take the final call on high stake water dispute before the crucial Karnataka assembly polls.
