Pyeongchang, February 6: The organizers of Winter Olympics despite being on right track are facing the spread of a virus among staff. However, they are insisting they are prepared to deal with the crisis. The opening ceremony of 2018 Games will be held on Friday.

“We are fully operational with many of our athletes and officials here and settling into their life in the villages and training is underway at all venues,” the games chief Lee Hee-boom told a news conference. But he has also accepted that he said some 1,200 private security staffs have been replaced with military personnel as fear of a norovirus among some staffs are spreading. He also assured that it would not come to the way of strict security.

The virus is highly contagious and causes vomiting and stomach cramps among other symptoms. Even in last year’s world athletics championship, attack of this virus compelled some athletes to miss competitions.

"KCDC( dispatched an immediate response team to the Pyeongchang site to check additional people for symptoms, check the origin of the exposure, take measures to control infection and prevent spread,” a statement from Korean Center for Disease Control and Prevention said.
