Mumbai – Goa ferry service to start by month end

Panaji, February 6: Bored with the rail, road or air journeys to reach Goa? Want some new means? Then here it is. By this month-end, a ferry service between Mumbai and Goa is going to start. But it may put a bit burden on your pockets as it might cost Rs 5000 per ticket. The vision behind this service is to provide enjoyment to the tourists as well as create jobs.

There are three means of transportation between Mumbai and Goa like road, air, and rail but from year-end one can reach by waterways enjoying the mind-blowing scenery of the route. There will be some stops in this ferry service like at Vengurla, Malvan, and Ratnagiri which will enable carrying more passengers and could cover more area in the Konkan region as well.

Here are some features of the Mumbai Goa Ferry Service:

· The cruise liner that will be used for the service has arrived in Mumbai. It can hold up to 400 passengers, though the final configuration will be revealed only before launch.

· The ferry will operate all year round, except during the four months of monsoon.

· It will be an overnight sailing, with a travel time of 16 hours from Mumbai to Goa.

· At Mumbai, the cruise liner will sail from the domestic cruise terminal at Mazgaon. It will have stops in Dighi in Raigad, Dabhol and Jaigad in Ratnagiri district, Vijay Durg and Malvan before docking in Panjim.

· The tickets for the Mumbai-Goa ferry will cost Rs5,000. This does not include food and other services on board.

· Trial runs for the Mumbai-Goa cruise are already underway, and all permissions are likely to be secured over the next few weeks.
