18 lakh poor families of Chhattisgarh get free LPG connection under Ujjwala Yojana

Raipur, February 7: Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), nearly 18 lakh 15 thousand 800 poor families in Chhattisgarh have been provided LPG connection. The scheme was started in state on August 13, 2016.

Under the scheme, 10 lakh LPG connections were provided in previous fiscal year 2016-17 and Rs 8 lakh 15 thousand 800 connections have been provided in current fiscal year 2017-18 till date.

Under scheme, each of the selected family (enlisted in Social, Financial and Caste based Census 2011) are provided free LPG connection, double burner stove and first filled cylinder at nominal registration cost of Rs 200.

Vision of PM Modi is to provide clean cooking fuel to poor households in the country has been taken forward through implementation of PMUY. An adult woman member of BPL family identified through Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC data is given a deposit free LPG connection with financial assistance of Rs. 1600/- per connection by Government of India.

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is a welfare program of the government of India, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016. The stated objective of the program is providing 50,000,000 LPG connections to women from families below the poverty line.
