No change in disinvestment plan of Dredging Corporation of India: Nitin Gadkari

 

On Monday, Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya informed Rajya Sabha about the ongoing procedure of disinvestment where the government had decided to sell its entire public stake in the DCI. Elaborating on the development, Mandaviya stated that disinvestment would improve the capability of PSU with efficient technology and necessary infrastructure as per the global standard. According to media reports, as per the findings of NITI Aayog, the government had pitched for the 100% disinvestment of the DCI.

The agency called Department of Investment and Public Asset Management is ready with all the permissions required for the hassle-free rollout of DCI disinvestment. Annoyed with the development, on February 19 employees of Dredging Corporation of India will be staging a massive protest against the proposed decision.

Earlier, Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan had slammed BJP led NDA government and openly opposed the alleged privatization of Dredging Corporation of India. During his state-wide tour, Pawan met family members of DCI employee who had committed suicide out of fear of losing the job.

The ace actor extended his support for the protest against the proposed move and even wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding personal intervention in order to safeguard the interest of DCI employees. He dared Prime Modi to face the political consequences. As reported by The Hindu business line Pawan warned BJP and said, the “downfall of BJP will begin from Visakhapatnam, if the Centre does not shelve its decision for a strategic sale of DCI.”
