New welfare authority announced to take care of Haryana farmers

Chandigarh, February 7: With an eye on enhancing agricultural productivity and farmers’ income in the state, Haryana has set up of ‘Haryana Kisan Kalyan Pradhikaran’. On Tuesday, the Manohar Lal Khattar government has announced of the setting up of the new authority.

The body will supervise regulations, guidelines, and procedures for farmers’ welfare and suggest amendments in the statute governing farmers’ welfare in the State in consonance with Central Acts. As the government is aware of the condition and needs of the farmers, it has decided to set up such body.

“The Pradhikaran will undertake all possible measures to enhance farm productivity and mitigate the physical, financial and psychological distress of farm households and landless workers. It will also maintain close liaison with line departments for implementation and monitoring of schemes, programmes, and projects through the Agriculture Advisory Council and issue necessary guidelines from time to time,” Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar said.

The Chief Minister himself will act as the chairperson of the welfare authority. In addition to that, an Agriculture Advisory Council would be put in place to advise the ‘pradhikaran’ for proper guidance.
