Central Railway gets 1st Bombaired rake with AC cabins

Mumbai, February 9: Another feather added to the cap of renovating the lifeline of Mumbai’s lifeline. Pertaining to the safety of passengers while travelling, the officials are paying keen attention to the possibilities of making changes that are feasible for the commuters.

 

Another new invention in this series of positive changes is that the Central Railway has received its first newly manufactured Bombardier local train with air-condition (AC) facility in driver's cabin on Thursday. First of its kind, such Bombardier rake has been installed in Mumbai division's suburban section wherein the driver's cabin, at both ends, is air-conditioned.

The Central Railway tweeted "First newly manufactured Bombardier rake for Central Railway with LED light fittings, CCTV cameras in all ladies compartments, stainless steel seats, fans with stainless steel net/cover, AC motorman cab and improved interior than the earlier rakes."

 

 

The train has been kept at the Kurla car shed which will soon be commissioned for operation. The train also has fitted LED light which are provided in all the coaches. The train has six to eight CCTVs installed in all five ladies compartments.

With stainless steel seats instead of polycarbonate seats the overall interior of this newly received rake is commendable. In addition to this they have installed fans with stainless steel net/cover, AC motorman cab and improved interior than the earlier rakes.

Revamping the trains, introducing digital facilities in the ticketing system, introducing the whistleblower site for safety, fitting CCTV cameras or strengthening connectivity through wifi connection, the department is covering every possible sector. Central Railway has received Rs. 356.71 crore to install CCTVs in 10,349 coaches. In December, CR received its first Bombardier rake. The Western Railway was the first to launch a complete AC local between Churchgate and Virar stations recently.
