PM Modi to embark on 3-Nation historic tour today

New Delhi, February 9: In first-ever historic visit to Gulf and West Asian region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave today on a three-nation tour. During his visit, PM Modi will have discussions with the leaders and share some mutual interests and will also address the Sixth World Government Summit in Dubai.

In his statement prior to his departure to Palestine, United Arab Emirates and Oman, the Prime Minister said, this region is a key priority in India's external engagement and he is looking forward to strengthening India’s growing and important ties with West Asia and the Gulf region through the visit. He said India enjoy vibrant multi-dimensional ties with the countries in West Asia.

Expressing his gratitude to the King Abdullah II of Jordan for facilitating the transit, he said he looks forward to meet him in Amman today.

On his first visit to Palestine, he said he was looking forward to the discussions with President Mahmoud Abbas and reaffirmed India's support for the Palestinian people and the development of Palestine.

On his visit to UAE on 10-11 February, he said it is a valued strategic partner with whom India has fast-tracked cooperation in all major spheres including economy, energy, high technology and security.

On his Oman visit PM Modi has said, it is a close maritime neighbour with whom India enjoys excellent relations.

He said he will hold talks with the Sultan of Oman and other key leaders and also interact with leading businesspersons of Oman on developing stronger economic and business links with India.

The Prime Minister said, in Oman and the UAE, he will have the opportunity to meet the large Indian diasporas which is a bridge of friendship between India and the Gulf states.
