With participation of Public, officials work for transformation of weaker districts: PM Modi

New Delhi, March 10: Public participation always helps. Wherever officials have worked with people and involved them with the development process, the results are transformative, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi today while addressing the National Legislators Conference in Central Hall of Parliament.

He added that “essential to identify the areas where districts need improvement and then address the shortcomings. Once we decide to change even one aspect in the districts, we will get the momentum to work on the other shortcomings.”

“We have the manpower, we have the skills and the resources. We need to work in a Mission Mode and bring a positive change. Our aim is social justice. Working on the aspirational districts will improve India's standing in the HDI,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi further said “this conference of Legislators is a commendable initiative by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. It is good to have Legislators from various states coming together to discuss important issues."

200 MLAs from twenty state assemblies are expected to take part at the first of its kind National Legislators Conference. Ms Mahajan selected 18 young MPs and leaders for the core group that will host the two-day conference. 8 speakers from different state assemblies will also address the event.

The two day event is termed as a platform for the MPs, MLAs and MLCs to share their success stories and to give their perspective on developmental issues in light of sustainable development goals.

Many senior central ministers including Arun Jaitley, JP Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, Prakash Javadekar are slated to address the legislators. Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu will address the Valedictory session on Sunday afternoon at the Central Hall.

Niti Ayog CEO Amitabh Kant too gave a presentation of development model being adopted in 101 most backward districts.
