Carving itself on the list of best destinations in the world: India wins ‘Best Exhibitor Award’ at ITB Berlin

Berlin, March 11: India has won the "Best Exhibitor Award” at ITB – Berlin on its last day. ‘ITB- Berlin World Tourist Meet’ was convened at Berlin, Germany from 7th March to 10th March; 2018.India was represented by the Minister of State for Tourism Mr K. J. Alphons along with couple of Tourism Ministry officials. India topped as best exhibitor following by Thailand and Indonesia. 

Minister of State for Tourism Mr K. J. Alphons tweeted saying India wins the best exhibitor award at ITB Berlin. India has truly arrived on the international stage. Congrats on it to the entire team that’s been working their hearts out to show case India as the best destination in the world.

 

More than 100 countries participated in the ITB- Berlin meet with their respective Tourism Ministers.

India's Incredible India presented a short film named "Yogi of the Racetrack” in the meet. The said short film has got 3.2 million hits in 60 hours.

 

Annual ITB trade show kicked off where 10,000 travel companies gathered to broaden their horizons. Exhibitors from 186 countries and regions descended on the German capital. ITB provided platform which served topics like luxury travel, technology and sustainability. Social responsibility was the main theme at the Awards.

With the Sustainable Destinations Top 100 Awards ITB Berlin and Green Destinations honoured destinations which provide an outstanding service to sustainable tourism. Prizes were awarded in several categories. A jury comprising 12 experts including Albert Salman from Green Destinations and Valere Tjolle from TravelMole picked the winners in each category.

In the Best of Nature category Botswana was the winner with Chobe, Makgadikgadi, Okavango and Selinda. In the Best of Cities, Communities & Culture category, QualityCoast in western Portugal claimed first prize. The Best of Seaside title went to Dutch QualityCoast Delta. The jury presented the Earth Award to the Kingdom of Bhutan. Further prizes were awarded in the Best of Africa, Best of the Americas, Best of Asia-Pacific, Best of Europe, Best of the Atlantic and Best of the Mediterranean categories.
